New September 2020 EYFS Starters
We are delighted that you have chosen our school for your child and warmly welcome you to our school community. Life is challenging at the moment and while times are uncertain, we recognise that you may be feeling anxious and concerned about your child’s transition to school. Rest assured that we and your child’s preschool are here to support you and as soon as we have more information about how transition will work this year, we will get this to you. In the meantime, we wanted to introduce ourselves and offer some advice to support you on how to ensure your child is prepared for school.
We would usually be getting ready to visit your child at pre-school and carrying out home visits for all of our new starters so that we can start to make relationships and share all of the information you need to ensure a smooth transition. As this will not be possible this year, we have put together some useful documents for you to have a look at. If there is any information that you would like us to know (existing friendship groups, medical information, special education need etc.) please email it to me at email@example.com
While this is a very challenging time for us all, please do not worry that your child will be ‘behind’ or has ‘missed out’ during this period. Instead, view it as an extra-special time with your child before their school journey begins. They will be learning lots from you and enjoying lots of time for the quality interactions that will help them to flourish.
While we do not yet know what transition arrangements will look like or when normal school-life will return, our school policy of a quick transition to full-time provision will remain. We will shortly be sending out a range of paperwork in preparation for when the time comes for your child to start school with us. In the meantime, I hope that you find the attached documents useful. If you want to make a start on some home learning, you can visit the ‘Ruth Miskin Training’ channel on YouTube. You can subscribe for free; getting access to daily sound lessons (Set 1 sounds for pre-school aged children) from 9:30am and lots of parent guides on how we will be teaching your child to read.
We are looking forward to meeting you soon. Stay safe and well.
