Important Safeguarding Notice: Children’s “Spy” Books

Dear Parent and Carers Important Safeguarding Notice: Children’s “Spy” Books We want to make you aware of a recent issue affecting some popular children’s books by Andrew Cope, including the Spy Dogs, Spy Cats, and Spy Pups series. Some editions of these books include a printed web address at the back. This link used to go to the author’s website, but the domain is no longer under his control. It has since been taken over by another party and now leads to inappropriate adult content. The publisher, Puffin, has paused sales and distribution of the books and is working with schools, libraries, and retailers to remove copies from circulation. They have stressed that the website has no connection to the author or publisher. What this means for you: If your child has any Spy Dog, Spy Cat or Spy Pups books at home, please check the back for website links and make sure they do not try to visit the site. It is safe for children to continue reading the stories themselves — the concern is only with the outdated link. We recommend talking with your child about the importance of not following web addresses in books without checking with an adult first. We will continue to share updates from the publisher as more information becomes available.

  • World Mental Health Day

    Published 05/10/25

This Friday 10th October, is World Mental Health Day. Here at Kingskerswell C of E Primary School we recognise the importance of looking after our Mental Health in the same way that we look after our physical health. As the lead on Mental Health and Wellbeing, I regularly use the resources and services provided by the charity 'Young Minds' to support our children and their families. This year, I thought it would be nice to give something back to the charity and join in with their 'Hello Yellow' event. So, on World Mental Health Day, Friday 10th October, I would like to invite everyone to join in and support us in reaching our fundraising goal of £250 by wearing yellow to school. Please do not go out and buy something especially for the day. If your child doesn't have anything yellow please don't worry, you are still very welcome to donate, and there will be a 'Hello Yellow' activity your child can join in with at school. On this day, we will also be starting a conversation about what mental health is and the things we can do to look after it. Any resources we use on the day will be available for you to view on the app, email and on the school website. Please make donations straight to our page using the link below: https://fundraise.youngminds.org.uk/fundraisers/lyndseycahill/hello-yellow?enref=32e40b9c63c91088dd6e50ea678c5f80
