Curriculum Information and Parent Engagement

At Kingskerswell Church of England Primary School, we believe that parents play a vital role in supporting their child's learning journey. At the beginning of each academic year, we invite families to attend our Meet the Teacher sessions in September. These sessions provide an opportunity to meet your child's class teacher, learn about the curriculum for the year ahead, understand key expectations, and discover how learning will be organised within the classroom. Parents and pupils can also access curriculum resources throughout the year via Google Classroom. Here you will find classwork, homework, and Knowledge Organisers, which outline the key facts, vocabulary and concepts being taught in each subject. These resources help children revisit their learning and enable parents to support learning at home.

We are committed to sharing and celebrating children's achievements with families. Throughout the year, parents will be invited into school to view and discuss their children's work, giving them a first-hand insight into the progress being made across the curriculum. In addition, our class assemblies provide wonderful opportunities for pupils to showcase their learning, talents and experiences with parents and the wider school community. Together, these opportunities help strengthen the partnership between home and school, ensuring that every child is supported to achieve their very best.

As a Church of England school, Religious Education forms an important part of our curriculum and contributes to pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. We encourage all children to take part in RE lessons, which explore Christianity alongside a range of other faiths and worldviews. However, parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education. Any parent wishing to discuss this should contact the Headteacher, who will be happy to explain the curriculum and discuss the arrangements available.
